Cathy J. Allen

	Cathy J. Allen, 46, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2002 at 2:30 a.m. at her home.
	Mrs. Allen was born January 19, 1956 in New Eagle, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Elwood Humphrey and Dorothy (Petry) Humphrey.  She married Apostale Steve Allen on May 20, 1977 in DuQuoin.
	Cathy was a minister for 20 years, during which she assisted her husband with his ministries.  Cathy and her husband founded and directed The Chapel at the TA Travel Center in Mt. Vernon.  She was active with the Prison Ministry at the Big Muddy Correctional Center.  She also oversaw the running of the River Church in Jacksonville, Florida.  At one point in her life, Cathy worked in the Medical Records Department at the Casey Care Center in Mt. Vernon and even ministered to residents there.  She was also the past Pastor of the Spirit of Freedom Church.
	This year, Cathy celebrated both 20 years in ministry and 25 years of marriage to her husband, Apostale Steve Allen.  She was a member of Word Ministries International.
	Surviving are her husband, Apostale Steve Allen of Mt. Vernon; mother, Dorothy Bailey and stepfather, Don Bailey of DuQuoin; two brothers, Raymond Humphrey and wife June of Ocala, Florida and Allen Humphrey and wife Sally of DuQuoin; four sisters, Liz Thompson of DuQuoin, Linda Huffman and husband Gordon of Wentzville, Mo., Mary Jones and husband Ken of St. Peters, Mo. and Ruth O'Rourke of DuQuoin and several nieces and nephews.
	She was preceded in death by her father.
	Graveside services was Wednesday, August 28 at 10 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with Apostale Steve Allen officiating.  Burial followed.
	Friends called Tuesday, August 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
